Membership in ALPA is open to any pilot holding an Indian passport with a valid flying license, whether Indian or foreign, employed in any organization and engaged in active flying duties in India or abroad, on either fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

ALPA India is, flight safety organization that functions as an advisor to our members and provides valuable feedback to the regulators worldwide. We are committed to uniting Indian pilots worldwide and prioritizing flight safety and professional development in the aviation industry.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Other than that, ALPA India is also a Pilot Welfare association that supports our members financially when grounded due to medical or administrative reasons, ensuring that no pilot stands alone during challenging times.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

We are a proud member of the International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Association (IFALPA)<\/strong>, headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with our registered office in Bangalore, India.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

The International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations ( IFALPA<\/strong>) represents more than 145,000 pilots in 75 countries. The mission of IFALPA is to promote the highest level of aviation safety worldwide and to be the global advocate of the piloting profession, providing representation, services, and support to both our members and the aviation industry.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

ALPA India is the only association that represents Indian pilots at the global level, giving them a strong and credible voice on the international stage.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

History<\/strong>:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

IPG ( Indian Pilots’ Guild)- Air India Pilots Union had started ALPA in 2009. Later, it was IPG, ICPA (Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association – Indian Airlines Pilots Union) and SWIP derivative.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

NAG (National Aviators Guild- Jet Air Ways Pilots Union) took over the reins of ALPA in 2012 and rejuvenated as a separate entity. After the closure of Jet Airways, Re-registered in Jan 2019 as ALPA- India under Karnataka’s Societies Act 1960.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Key Highlights of Our Benevolent Programme :<\/p>\r\n\r\n

1. Age: up to 65 years<\/p>\r\n\r\n

2. Immediate Coverage: NO cooling period<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

3. Benevolent Cover :<\/p>\r\n\r\n

A) PMU\/Death - Rs. 2cr or the number of months\/years service left, calculated on last drawn salary, whichever is less.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

B) Cover above 58 years: Members aged above 58 years will receive cover for PMU\/DEATH as per below conditions :<\/p>\r\n\r\n

a) Should have completed at least 5 years before attaining the age of 58 in ALPA as a BF member to claim 100% cover.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

b) Members who have not completed 5 years of BF membership shall be covered as per the table below after attaining the age of 58 years<\/p>\r\n\r\n

c)TMU\/TG: 2.0 Lakhs\/month ( All age group) up to a maximum of 12 months, with potential coverage augmentation with an increase in members.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

d) Temporary Grounding: Loss of salary up to 2.0 Laks\/Month up to a max of 12 Months if grounded due Incident\/Accident or Post-flight BA miss<\/p>\r\n\r\n

e) No Cooling Period. Except that the Probation period of 60 days at the time of joining only, where TMU will not be covered, but PMU\/Death and special cases, TMU shall be covered.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

4. Affordable Premium: Annual premium is Rs 1,20,000 yearly or Rs 10,000 Monthly FIXED*. Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of Application and not January to December. The BF cover starts after the first year’s payment gets credited.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

5. International Support: In the event a member becomes stranded or encounters difficulties in any foreign country, they may contact the IFALPA emergency helpline. IFALPA, in coordination with the Member Association of that country, will extend all necessary assistance to resolve the situation and ensure the member’s safe repatriation or resolution of the issue.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

6. Refund Policy: Benevolent contribution at the rate of Rs 72,000 per year would be refunded with a 6% interest on accumulated fund upon retirement at 65 years of age or if opted to exit after 10 years, whichever occurs earlier, if no claim is availed during the entire membership tenure.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

7. Cover during unemployment: If a member loses employment during his membership tenure, he\/she can continue to receive BF cover till he\/she continues to pay the BF contribution. Can avail the holiday period to keep the membership valid.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

8. The programme, being a benevolent scheme, is independent of the number of insurance policies that a member can hold, like FIP, ICPA, APWSS, IPG, etc<\/p>\r\n\r\n

9. Family Health Insurance: GMC coverage and premium offer the best rates in the market. Details of the premium are given on the website.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

10. Future Cover Augmentation: With a rise in membership, coverage may be augmented with the inclusion of full net salary protection due to suspension, termination, or any disciplinary action till reinstatement of employment or new employment is secured with some upper limit of months\/years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

11. Coverage During Unemployment: If a member loses employment during the period of active membership, they will continue to receive Benefits Fund (BF) coverage, provided they continue to pay the applicable BF contribution. Members may also avail the "Holiday Period" option to maintain membership continuity during unemployment.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

12. Claim Ratio: 100%. We have to date paid 5 PMUs and one Death. Presently, we are in the process of paying 18 TMUs and one PMU. No Backlogs Membership Procedure:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

1. Fill the form on the website www.alpaindia.org and upload the last 3 years' medical Assessment and\/or CA-35 under the option “Become Member”<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

2. Please select “Benevolent member “ under” Member Type<\/strong>” Option.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

Membership condition <\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

1. Open to:<\/p>\r\n\r\n

a. All Indian National Pilots with a valid Indian Passport, employed in airlines OR corporates on fixed wing or rotary, employed in any company across the world. <\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

b. All Overseas citizens of India (OCI) with a foreign passport employed in India on an Indian License<\/strong>.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

2. Pilots with pre-existing medical conditions are NOT excluded from ALPA membership. However, all pre-existing medical conditions must be notified to ALPA-India at the time of registration.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

3. Enrolment in the benevolent fund would be subject to the approval of the ALPA Board members, consisting of the Managing Committee, the Medical and legal team<\/p>\r\n\r\n

4. For Pilots flying with a foreign license, please upload your respective country's medical of the last 3 years through your profile on the ALPA India website. www.alpaindia.org<\/p>\r\n\r\n

5. As of now, membership is not open for pregnant pilots, and no BF cover during pregnancy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

6. Medical shall be valid for at least 60 days at the time of application<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

Achievements : <\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

1. Regular interaction with IFALPA and attending regular regional meetings discussing and updating IFALPA regarding important developments in Indian aviation, and requesting their assistance wherever required and providing assistance and support to member Associates of other countries. We have taken up important issues like FDTL implementation, six-month notice period, eGCA logging glitches, Pilot welfare, high training bonds and costs, etc<\/p>\r\n\r\n

2. FDTL Meeting with DGCA – Nov 2024<\/p>\r\n\r\n

3. Meeting with MOCA, Shri K. Ram Mohan Naidu: Dec' ‘2024; discussed Key issues related to flight crew operations were also addressed, and their current status was brought to Shri Naidu's attention. he welcomed the idea of scheduling another focused meeting with a pre-notified agenda to resolve pressing issues swiftly.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

4. Raised concerns with MOCA and DGCA over the high cost of training by the Airlines from cadet programmes.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

5. Raised concern with AAIB and MOCA to be part of the Air crash investigation of AI 171<\/p>\r\n\r\n

6. Successfully got the IR endorsement procedure changed in DGCA.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

7. Held a meeting with DGCA regarding falsely implementing Rule 67A violations on pilots. 8. Membership open for student pilots. Collaborated with a few training institutes to mentor and guide student pilots.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

FAQs:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n

1. Registration and Purpose ALPA is a pilots' welfare association registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960, with the objective of promoting the welfare of its members.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

2. Management and Governance<\/p>\r\n\r\n

a) The association is governed by a Managing Committee (MC) elected and nominated by its members.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

b) All MC members are employees of various companies and, therefore, are not entitled to any remuneration from ALPA. All positions within the MC are honorary in nature.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

c) The Managing Committee ( MC)shall consist of the following positions: a total of 12 committee members -President, Vice President, Gen Secretary, Treasurer, Joint Secretary, and Committee members. Presently, we have a total of 9 MC members<\/p>\r\n\r\n

3. Funds Management<\/p>\r\n\r\n

a. ALPA’s funds are maintained in current accounts, fixed deposits, and mutual funds, managed by Anand Rathi Investment Company, as per the association's investment policy.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

b. ALPA does not undertake Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) for its funds or payments.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

c. The Temporary Medical Unfitness (TMU)\/Permanent Medical Unfitness (PMU) coverage provided is non-taxable as per the current government rules.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

4.TMU\/PMU Coverage<\/p>\r\n\r\n

a. Members who are declared TMU\/TG shall receive coverage of \u20b91.65 lakh per month for six months.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

b. During the TMU\/TG period, it is the responsibility of the member to ensure their Benevolent Fund (BF) membership remains active.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

c. If a Member is declared PMU\/Death, then he\/she is not required to keep his\/her BF membership current.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

5. Grounding claims exceed more than the corpus. In cases where claims exceed the available corpus, payouts are deferred and distributed equally among grounded members. These payouts are made at regular intervals until the entitled coverage amount is fully disbursed.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

6. Claim: We have maintained a 100% claim disbursement . To date, we have successfully paid out 4 PMU claims and 1 death claim. Currently, we are supporting 6 TMU claims and 1 PMU claim, with no dues outstanding to date<\/p>\r\n\r\n

7. Dispute Resolution Any disputes arising out of the association's functioning or activities shall fall under the jurisdiction of the Karnataka High Court.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
